Sunday evening, the ladies in our youth group were treated to a four hour beach themed party sponsored by the BUGirl Team from Canada! BUGirl stands for Beautiful Unique Girl! It was a night instructing the ladies to discover their beauty, to learn to walk in freedom and live with a purpose. Corn Mennonite Brethren has an awesome youth pastor for putting this event together for the ladies! Below is our group that attended; 23 junior and high school youth and 9 sponsors. Each of the youth group sponsors have there own small group of students that we meet with on a weekly basis. Only two of my six girls were able to come to the event on Sunday. The Issue
Being a girl in today’s culture is tough. There are so many changes going on inside young women emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. Not to mention the negative messages coming at them from T.V, magazines, advertising, peers and even family. How can we counteract this negatively and speak true beauty and identity into the girls of our culture? The Beautiful Unique Girl events were created to do just that.

The Event
The BUGirl Ultimate Beach Party is a 4 hour event from 5-9 pm, created to remind jr. and sr. high girls that they are valuable, simply because they were created by God. This event will go a step further than the last by encouraging and equipping girls to walk out their true identity – choosing to fill their mind with the truth of God’s word, find role models and friends that encourage and lift them up, and share the message of value with other girls in their community.


The Details
Besides powerful teaching by a dynamic speaker and inspiring music by one of Avante Records aspiring female artists, the girls will be apart of a group discussion about secrets – why we have them and what we can do find freedom from them. Instead of hiding from God, girls will be encouraged to come to Him with their worries and find comfort and truth by reading their bibles everyday and finding godly role models and friends.

The girls will enjoy a pizza dinner, nailpainting, health smoothies with their favorite “boosters” and so much more. All of this will happen in the ideal beach party setting, complete with bamboo mats, tiki torches, tropical flowers and more.


The Goal
One evening is a short time to establish trust and create opportunity to speak into core issues of young women's lives and hearts. However, we believe that by partnering with local church youth groups and leaders, BUGirl events can start conversations that will be continued in months and years to come. These events are not the end, but rather the beginning of a journey towards true identity for young women.

The cost of this event is $35.00/person
(Some youth groups are choosing to subsidize the event fee for participants.)
