Grandparents’ Visit

Grandpa and Grandma G came for a visit at the end of October, as football season was coming to a close. Our first terribly cold days were upon us after a very warm autumn. Grandpa and Grandma made huge efforts to arrive on time to see both Sam and Dellen play in their last football games. However, just as they were pulling up, Dellen’s game had been postponed a week due to extreme wind chills. We were all so disappointed, other than the relief of not having to be out in the cold. And as it would happen, the next week Dellen caught a pass and ran for a touchdown. He loved it.

We enjoyed some time at the nearby college coffee shop after school one day. The boys had just received their report cards and it was fun to sit and read through them. Afterwards, we all went for a stroll on our local little trail. photo3photophoto2DSC_0183DSC_0182DSC_0184 DSC_0185 DSC_0186 DSC_0187 DSC_0189 We’re glad they were able to see Sam’s football game as planned. Gramps and Grams came too, so Sam had a large cheering section. DSC_0191 DSC_0193 DSC_0196 DSC_0197 DSC_0198 DSC_0199

And, I’ve updated a post from September after receiving a picture of the boys with their other grandparents. Check it out here.

Church Barn Party

On a beautiful autumn evening, several faithful friends gathered for fellowship. We enjoyed roasting hotdogs and making smores, playing games, visiting and singing praises to a Faithful God. It was good. photophoto3The boys loved having the space to run and play with friends.  photo1And bobbing for apples! Russ had organized this hit activity. photo7photo8 photo9photo2photo5Sam and Dellen, along with other children, were drenched. However, they had so much fun, that during the sunny days that followed, kept requesting to bob for more apples. On Sunday afternoon, that turned into some backyard baptisms. Not just my labeling their play that, they were very serious in baptizing one another in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. DSC_0169DSC_0168DSC_0163DSC_0165

These are precious days indeed.

Lunchtime Limo Ride

On a regular Monday at school, Dellen was able to ride in a limo to McDonald’s as a reward for his fabulous fundraising for the school district. He anticipated this event for a long time and just bubbled coming out from the school to get inside. Thank you, family and friends, who contributed to the cause of giving this special boy a treat and for supporting our schools. We are extremely grateful for the excellent learning environment our boys are in and for their caring teachers. We are grateful for each of you in our lives also!

Wichita River Walk

Papa and Mema came for a visit and were able to catch both Sam and Dellen in their football games. Didn’t think of having my camera with me for group photos as I usually do. Dellen’s game was cold and blustery and Sam’s was rather sunny and hot. I managed to get quite burned at Sam’s game – looked like I’d been skiing. Had a church barn party to attend that evening, during which the burn brought lots of attention to myself. Urgh! Where was my sunscreen?

The boys were out of school during their visit and we went into Wichita for a little outing on the river walk. I hadn’t been down in that area too much before and enjoyed the sights. Maybe I’ll do a race there this spring. The Keeper of the Plains statue is one of the finalists for the 8th Wonder of Kansas. photo10photo9photo8 photo1photo7photo4photo5photo6photo3photo
