Packing update....or lack thereof.
Everyday, I truly intend to pack a few boxes. I am ashamed of how I am handling my time. I simply do not know where it is going. Well, I do know what happened to thirty minutes of it yesterday when for some odd reason, I decided to change the whole layout of my blog after two years of being perfectly content with how it looked.
I can also claim the activities around two beloved boys' birthdays (Dellen's is on Saturday, and I take cupcakes to his class in the morning) affecting the use of my time.
And the holidays! I usually have all my Christmas gifts bought by October. This year, I am just realizing that Thanksgiving is next week - wow, a week from today - and we are celebrating Christmas with Russ' family. What to do?! Last minute shopping trips and online ordering at its best, that's what. I've also lost my master list of gifts. I have gift lists from years in a trunk, but cannot find the one I keep with my purse for 2010, which is aggravating me immensely. I am only as organized as my list is written.
So, are you ready for today's excuse? I actually carried two boxes in from the garage. We have started a collection from the local nursing home. We will be moving with several adult undergarment boxes. I walked into our pretty front room, plan in tack to pack all my decorative dishes in order to move them separate into Russ' parents home when we go up at Thanksgiving, and basically stalled there for several minutes. How do I begin to pack up this room after eleven and a half years? It is a most convenient room to begin in, and the piles will be nicely out of our everyday living. Thing is, while I know it is time to start packing, I'm not ready to walk around box towers. I am not ready to see the empty surfaces, tables, and bookshelves. I am not ready for the visual reminder of the hard work in front of us every time I walk in the front door. Therefore, I sat down and called my mom. Before long, Dellen was awake from his nap. Sam was home from school. And three additional friends were here for a few hours. Then supper, homework, and piano practice. The afternoon and evening have come and gone, yet again.

New Jersey - Day Three
I am so grateful for my relationship with Lori, my sister-in-law. We can talk about anything together; deep one moment and utter silliness the next. Russ took the following three pictures. They aren't really what either of us (Lori and I) would choose to be placed here, but I love what they capture; friendship in its purest form.

While we were in New Jersey, Rob and Lori were getting a new boiler put in. On this particular day a lot was going on around the house and Rob needed to be at some important meetings in the afternoon. We relaxed around their house and took several pictures in the morning. A few of the pictures are from the day before, but I thought I would lump the portraits here of the first few days. Thought I would add that for those noticing the different outfits.

Just a tease of the nature photographs that will be coming. I took hundreds; most from our hikes that will be covered in the next two days. These two are from their yard though.

That evening, Rob and Lori watched all the children while Russ and I went out for dinner in nearby Warwick, NY. We really objected to going out, and were insistent on Rob and Lori going out instead. I guess they won in the end. Unfortunately, the favor was never returned. So sorry guys.
This picture was taken in Warwick. The following picture is of the same structure, but taken when we visited last December. Warwick is a charming town.

Big days with lots of photographs are coming up.

New Jersey - Day Two
On Thursday, we went to William Paterson University where our brother-in-law works. Check out this link for more on Rob . We always enjoy going through the television and radio studios.

Future journalists and reporters.
A glimpse into the students of the future classes of 2021, 2024 and 2027! Yikes!
Fun times in Uncle Rob's office.

Rob had to stay at work, but the rest of us took both vehicles and went off for an afternoon of exploring. First stop, the Wawayanda State Park. The boys enjoyed some soccer with Uncle Russ, while Sophie enjoyed a bit of a snooze in the car. Lori and I stayed in the warm car, as it was a bit chilly this day. I did get out for some photos. The lakes in the area, all have cute little beaches. I'll have to come visit in the summer sometime!

Next we drove to a most delightful Candy Apple Shoppe. There were two red barns next to it that I found very charming, and an inn to stay at. And as if there was need for any extra pizazz, a babbling brook and bridge are situated quite naturally within steps of the shoppe.

Their autumn specialty is candied apples that they make in house.
Oh, and the choices!

Just down the rode...I think...was a farm where Lori gets her fresh produce during the summer. We enjoyed picking out pumpkins and being silly for a while here.

It was just gorgeous every time we stepped out of the house! I'm planning on posting several scenery pictures on a separate post(s). The one below is just a sampling of the sights seen from the car windows.
And what do you do at the end of a long day out and about? You snuggle.
