Junior Escort

Last evening was Corn Bible Academy's homecoming for fall sports (football and volleyball), and Dellen was asked to be a junior escort. About an hour before game kickoff, it started to rain.This was the view upon our arrival to the field complex. While the rain did eventually pass, it remained somewhat cold and very sloshy. The boys were soaked within minutes of arrival.

This year's homecoming theme was based around the Wild West, and Dellen was asked to dress as a cowboy. Student Council gives gifts to the two junior escorts as a thanks for their participation. Dellen received this rather nice cowboy hat. He was so excited. He has been anticipating this event all week.

The other junior escort Jaysa, was the daughter of the volleyball coach. The two children did a fantastic job. They each carried a hand full of items to walk down the field with. Somewhat unexpected for them, as at rehearsal earlier in the afternoon, they were able to hold each other's hands. This time down the 50 yard line, she held the football and a bouquet of flowers, and Dellen held the volleyball and the crown.

The crown is dangling from its tie to the pillow here. Dellen is doing all he can not to drop the volleyball.

After we were home, Dellen asked me, "Did I do great?" My reply, "Yes, Dellen, you did great!"

Below is a quick flashback to December 2007, when Sam was junior escort for winter sports' homecoming. Sam said it was no fair that Dellen got to dress up as a cowboy and he had to wear this outfit. He thought he was something special at that time though, and so did we.
