Kindergarten Conclusion

Monday and Tuesday were days filled with all the fun the final hours of Kindergarten can hold. We enjoyed watching Sam in his first school track meet. He smiled most of the day and had full blown giggles during the sack race. I think he finished second to last during this one, but what a fun-filled event! He still managed to get a third place ribbon. (I think that for all events, they placed the first and second place ribbons, and all other participants received a third place.) The track meet was for the Pre-K through 6th grade. Sam participated in the 50 and 100 yd dashes (by far not the fastest in his class), the long jump, football throw, softball throw, sack race, team relay and tug of war.
On Tuesday, Sam had his final hours of Kindergarten. He is pictured on the far right with his fellow Kindergartners. His teacher was Angela Arney, and she was a wonderful christian teacher. I was so emotionally moved this last morning in his class. I can hardly believe that this first year of school is already over. We are blessed beyond measure for all the bright moments; his teachers, his friends, the class size, the number of boys to hang out with (there are few boys near his age in our church social circles), and all the learning that took place. Sam is truly a different boy than he was last August.
Final farewells and pictures were taken. These are some especially dear friends, as he gets to be with them at church as well. The three in the front with him are just finishing Pre-K.
Sam received the Kindergarten certificate for Best Reader. What joy to hear him sound out words and signs. A whole new world has opened up for him now. His first place ribbons were from the relay team race and the softball throw. Second place was for long jump.
I have many events to share on Sam from these last weeks. Even though a lot of our lives have been focused around Sam, Dellen is just as present in the action. He is a joy to share the day with. He held his own mini track meet on the side. Here he is showing us how fast he can run. Notice that his favorite fashion choice at the moment is to wear his cowboy boots with his shorts. ...And, he was so proud of Sam and his ribbons, he wanted to pose with them too.
We're full blown into T-ball and Coach Pitch now, and I will be getting some pictures up from those moments soon.
